FVYHA Volunteering Information

Volunteering Information

FVYHA is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization. The hockey club fully depends on its members contribute the time, effort and resources necessary to provide high quality hockey programming at all age levels.  The time, talent and energy that each family contributes to FVYHA offsets the cost of playing hockey. The goal of the volunteer policy is to distribute the enormous workload amongst all families.

The involvement of our FVYHA families is what makes us a successful organization.

The policies provided here list the minimum number of hours of volunteering required by each family depending on the level of their skater(s); and detail the credit hours attached to different volunteer positions.

All members are encouraged to engage with the club and their child’s team – there are ample opportunities to volunteer: for the club, on a team, and/or for the ice rink (operated by Appleton Ice Inc, a separate nonprofit).

FVYHA volunteer opportunities are scheduled on Dibs and communicated in multiple ways: via the news on the website, the Slapshot newsletter, directly from your age director, or via email by the volunteer coordinator. You must sign up for volunteer opportunities on Dibs (this is tab on our website). Please contact the volunteer coordinator if you questions!

WAHA Background Check

Under federal law, volunteer organizations must secure a signed consent/release form from each individual for whom a background check is to be requested. Consent/Release Forms are supplied online by Protect Youth Sports. Screenings are good for 2 years.

SafeSport Training

The USA Hockey SafeSport Program is an online training/education available to help volunteers become aware of the information necessary to help prevent abuse from occurring in our sport. We are pleased to announce that all USA Hockey registered coaches, officials, employees and volunteers are entitled to take the training at no cost. The training was produced by the United States Olympic Committee and is comprised of short video segments that take approximately 90 minutes to complete, however, not all training needs to be completed in one session. The SafeSport Training is valid for two (2) seasons.

All reimbursement requests are subject to board approval. Please include all receipts and information to ensure approval and streamlined reimbursement.
